Responsibilities  

- Engineer new overhead and underground transmission and distribution circuits from 4 kV to 345 kV.  

- Model conductor sag-tension envelopes in PLS-CADD and validate pole loading with O-Calc Pro.  

- Perform structural analysis of wood, steel, and laminated poles; verify guying, anchoring, and foundation capacity.  

- Develop route alternatives, acquire easements, and integrate GIS survey data into AutoCAD plan-and-profile sheets.  

- Specify conductors, insulators, arresters, and hardware; ensure full NESC and OSHA clearance compliance.  

- Lead system upgrade and reconductoring studies—improve ampacity, reliability, and storm hardening.  

- Coordinate with protection, substation, and civil teams to deliver fully stamped construction packages.  

- Mentor junior engineers and interface with utility clients during scope, estimate, and design reviews.  


Requirements  

- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering.  

- 5+ years designing transmission or distribution lines within North American utility standards.  

- Proficient with PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, O-Calc Pro, AutoCAD, and CYME or Milsoft WindMil.  

- Strong grasp of power system planning, structural mechanics, and pole loading criteria.  

- Demonstrated knowledge of NESC, ANSI, and applicable state codes.  

- Ability to interpret LiDAR, topographic, and survey data for alignment optimization.  

- Proven project management skills—schedule, budget, and risk control.  

- PE license (or ability to obtain within 12 months) highly valued.  

- Effective written and verbal communication; comfortable collaborating in distributed teams.
