Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive structural analyses of new and existing communication structures, including monopoles, self-supporting towers, and guyed towers, in accordance with TIA-222-G/H standards.
- Develop and design innovative and cost-effective reinforcement solutions for overstressed towers and their foundations to accommodate new equipment loading.
- Conduct co-location feasibility studies to determine the capacity of structures for additional antennas and ancillary equipment from multiple carriers.
- Prepare detailed and precise engineering reports, construction drawings, and technical documentation that clearly communicate design intent and analytical findings.
- Create and review foundation designs—including mat foundations, drilled piers, and micro-piles—ensuring geotechnical considerations are fully integrated.
- Execute dynamic analysis for wind and seismic loading to ensure tower performance under extreme environmental conditions.
- Collaborate with project managers, CAD designers, and field personnel to ensure project requirements are met from conception through to completion.
- Provide engineering oversight and review for rigging plans associated with tower modifications and equipment installation.
Core Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- A minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience specifically in the structural analysis and design of communication towers.
- Demonstrable, in-depth proficiency with the TIA-222 standard (revisions G and H are essential) and its practical application.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in at least one state is highly preferred; Engineer in Training (EIT) certification with the ability to obtain a PE license is required.
- Thorough understanding of core engineering principles and design codes for steel and concrete (e.g., AISC 360, ACI 318).
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of interfacing with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Skills & Software Proficiency
- Mastery of specialized tower analysis software, particularly tnxTower and/or RISA-3D.
- Proficiency with supplementary structural and geotechnical software (e.g., L-Pile, Mathcad, STAAD.Pro).
- Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD for reviewing and interpreting drawings.
- Prior field experience involving tower inspections, condition assessments, or construction observation is a significant advantage.
- A Master's degree in Structural Engineering would be considered a strong asset.
