Test Automation Engineer
We are a forward-thinking organization committed to engineering excellence and tangible innovation. Our team thrives on solving complex challenges and pushing the boundaries of what is technologically possible. We foster a collaborative environment where individual contributions are valued and professional growth is not just encouraged—it's expected. You will join a group of dedicated professionals who are passionate about quality and precision in everything they build.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and fabricate custom Automated Test Equipment (ATE) and complex test fixtures from initial concept through to final deployment.
- Develop, debug, and execute intricate test sequences and robust automation scripts using LabVIEW (experience with object-oriented programming is a plus), TestStand, and Python (leveraging libraries like PyTest, NumPy, and Pandas).
- Seamlessly integrate advanced data acquisition (DAQ) hardware—including systems from National Instruments (NI) and Keysight—and control instrumentation such as PLCs, oscilloscopes, and digital multimeters.
- Perform rigorous statistical analysis (e.g., SPC, Cpk) on test data to identify performance trends, pinpoint root causes of failures, and generate comprehensive validation and verification reports.
- Lead the verification and validation (V&V) efforts to confirm product performance, quality, and compliance against stringent design specifications and industry standards.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including design engineers, firmware developers, and manufacturing specialists, to resolve issues and drive product improvements.
- Create and maintain meticulous documentation for test procedures, equipment designs (using CAD software), and system configurations to ensure repeatability and knowledge transfer.
Core Qualifications & Skills
- A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline is required.
- You possess at least 5 years of proven, hands-on experience as a Test Automation Engineer, ATE Engineer, or in a similar hardware test development capacity.
- Strong, demonstrated proficiency in at least one core programming language for test automation: LabVIEW *or* Python. Proficiency in both is highly desirable.
- Hands-on experience with the theory and application of data acquisition (DAQ) hardware and sensor integration.
- Demonstrable skill in electronics troubleshooting, schematic reading, and root cause analysis down to the component level... you can find the needle in the haystack.
- A foundational understanding of mechanical design principles, particularly for creating test fixtures and enclosures.
Preferred Expertise
- Experience managing test sequences and generating reports with NI TestStand.
- Familiarity with PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff) for industrial automation.
- Proficiency in designing mechanical fixtures using CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar).
- Knowledge of common communication protocols such as GPIB, SPI, I2C, CAN, and Ethernet.
- Prior experience working within regulated industries like medical devices (ISO 13485), aerospace (AS9100), or automotive (IATF 16949).
- A Certified LabVIEW Developer (CLD) or Certified LabVIEW Architect (CLA) designation is a significant advantage.
