Sustainability Mechanical Engineer (Design & LCA)
We're a distributed team of specialists focused entirely on sustainability in the built and manufactured world. Minimal bureaucracy. We hire smart people and trust them to get their work done. You'll have the freedom to tackle problems your way, as long as you can back up your decisions with solid data and engineering.
Your work will directly influence:
- How products are designed for disassembly and recycling (actual DfE, not just theory).
- The materials we choose, moving away from the status quo to find genuinely sustainable alternatives.
- The energy consumption of new and existing mechanical systems through audits and smart redesigns.
- Pushing circular economy principles from a talking point into a real engineering requirement.
What we're looking for
- You're fluent in SolidWorks. It’s a primary tool for you.
- You have real, hands-on experience with Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) software. You've used tools like GaBi or SimaPro before. You know your way around LCA databases.
- The principles of Design for Environment (DfE) and the circular economy are things you actively apply, not just concepts you've read about.
- You've worked on energy efficiency projects or conducted energy audits. You know your way around energy modeling software.
- You are good at explaining complex technical ideas without putting people to sleep. Seriously. You'll be talking to clients and internal teams who need to understand the 'why' behind your designs.
