Full-time

We are a forward-thinking engineering consultancy celebrated for our innovative solutions and unwavering commitment to quality. Our practice is built on a foundation of technical excellence and a collaborative spirit. We empower our engineers to tackle some of the most intriguing structural challenges, investing in their growth and providing them with state-of-the-art technology. By joining us, you become part of a culture that values deep expertise and pushes the boundaries of what's possible in the built environment, particularly in the revitalization of existing structures. We believe in preserving architectural heritage while ensuring modern safety and functionality.

Key Responsibilities

- You will lead comprehensive Property Condition Assessments (PCA) and structural due diligence investigations for a diverse portfolio of commercial, institutional, and historic buildings.

- You will direct forensic engineering investigations to meticulously determine the root cause of structural failures, performance deficiencies, and material degradation.

- You will architect and engineer sophisticated repair, restoration, and strengthening solutions for complex structures involving concrete, steel, masonry, and timber.

- You will create and oversee the development of detailed design documents, construction drawings, and technical specifications for high-impact adaptive reuse and landmark historic preservation projects.

- You will conduct advanced load capacity analysis for buildings undergoing changes in occupancy or use, ensuring strict compliance with the International Existing Building Code (IEBC) and other critical standards (e.g., ASCE 7).

- You will expertly deploy and interpret data from advanced non-destructive testing (NDT) equipment—such as ground-penetrating radar (GPR), ultrasonic testing, and infrared thermography—to precisely evaluate existing conditions without damaging the structure.

- You will manage projects from the initial assessment phase through to construction administration, serving as the primary technical liaison between architects, contractors, and discerning clients.

- You will author compelling, detailed technical reports that clearly document findings, complex analysis, and actionable recommendations for a variety of stakeholders.

Core Qualifications

- A Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited university is required.

- You must hold a Professional Engineer (PE) license in at least one U.S. state, coupled with the ability and willingness to obtain licensure in additional states through comity.

- You possess a minimum of seven years of progressive, hands-on experience focused specifically on the structural analysis, investigation, and design of existing buildings.

- You have demonstrated mastery in applying the International Existing Building Code (IEBC), ASCE/SEI 7, and material-specific codes (ACI 318/562, AISC 360/341, TMS 402/602).

- You have a proven track record in structural investigation, building pathology, and the intricacies of condition assessments for aging infrastructure.

- You have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex technical information into clear, concise, and accurate reports and presentations.

- You are an inquisitive and resourceful professional with superior analytical and creative problem-solving abilities, particularly when faced with unknown conditions and antiquated materials.

Preferred Expertise

- A Master's degree in Structural Engineering is a significant asset and is highly preferred.

- Advanced proficiency with modern structural analysis software (e.g., RISA-3D, SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE) for complex modeling and analysis.

- Experience with 3D laser scanning (LiDAR) technology and point cloud data processing for creating precise as-built models is desirable.

- A distinct background in historic preservation, including a deep knowledge of archaic building systems, construction methods, and materials.

- Prior experience serving as an expert witness or providing litigation support related to structural engineering matters.
