Structural Bridge Engineer
You will join a U.S.-based, multidiscipline practice that reimagines infrastructure resilience. Our engineers deliver landmark viaducts, moveable bridges, and long-span crossings—blending proven methodologies with cutting-edge digital tools. Collaboration is global; many team members contribute remotely across time zones, leveraging cloud-hosted CDEs and VR-enabled design reviews. Continuous learning, licensure support, and thought-leadership publishing are embedded in our culture. Bring your curiosity and ingenuity—shape the structures that move communities forward.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute comprehensive bridge and culvert designs from concept to issued-for-construction drawings.
- Run finite-element models in SAP2000, RISA-3D, LUSAS, and LEAP Bridge to verify strength, serviceability, and fatigue.
- Perform live-load, wind, thermal, seismic, and scour load calculations to AASHTO LRFD and AREMA provisions.
- Select steel, prestressed concrete, and composite materials that optimize life-cycle cost and sustainability.
- Prepare clear connection details, deck reinforcement layouts, bearing schedules, and expansion-joint geometry.
- Inspect aging structures, assess deterioration, and draft repair or retrofit schemes—including seismic upgrades.
- Coordinate with roadway, geotechnical, and hydraulic disciplines to integrate foundations, retaining walls, and drainage.
- Present technical findings to review boards and respond to Requests for Information during construction.
- Mentor junior engineers, nurture a culture of safety, and champion digital design automation.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with structural emphasis (ABET-accredited).
- 5+ years in bridge or heavy-civil structural design.
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license; intent to obtain SE within 24 months.
- Proficiency with MicroStation or AutoCAD for 2D drafting and BIM-centric workflows.
- Demonstrated mastery of load rating, fatigue evaluation, and structural inspection reporting.
- Solid command of finite-element theory, material science, and stability analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; able to translate complex results into actionable guidance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree focused on structural dynamics or advanced materials.
- Experience with accelerated bridge construction (ABC) or modular deck systems.
- Hands-on knowledge of parametric design scripts (Python, VBA) for repetitive tasks.
- Prior collaboration on DOT, railroad, or utility corridor projects.
