Solar R&D Engineer – Photovoltaic Cell & Module Innovation

Remotely
Full-time

You are a Solar R&D Engineer who turns bold hypotheses into working photovoltaic reality. From tweaking semiconductor interfaces under a microscope to stress-testing full-scale modules in damp-heat chambers, you will own the scientific method end-to-end while shaping the next generation of clean-energy hardware.

About the Team

- Multidisciplinary researchers, data analysts, and design engineers united by one objective — push solar efficiency and durability beyond today’s limits.

- Hybrid culture: laboratory benches in the morning, remote data crunching or patent writing in the afternoon.

Responsibilities

- Design clever experiments (DoE) that uncover performance drivers for novel PV cells, bifacial modules, and high-density interconnects.

- Prototype inverters, racking, and packaging concepts using CAD and rapid-fabrication tools, then iterate swiftly.

- Execute accelerated reliability programs—thermal cycling, damp heat, UV, PID—to predict 25-year field behavior in weeks.

- Analyse multivariate data with MATLAB, JMP, or Python to extract statistically significant insights.

- Translate findings into patentable IP, technical papers, and conference presentations.

- Scout emerging materials, coatings, and semiconductor architectures; compare feasibility, cost, and supply-chain resilience.

- Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to embed new processes on pilot lines while safeguarding yield targets.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Materials Science, Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering; PhD advantageous.

- 4+ years in PV cell or module R&D, semiconductor device physics, or thin-film deposition.

- Hands-on with LabVIEW, advanced metrology (EQE, EL/PL imaging), and failure-analysis techniques.

- Fluency in statistical analysis and DOE software (JMP, Minitab) paired with strong MATLAB/Python scripting.

- Proven record of peer-reviewed publications or granted patents—show us your curiosity.

- Comfortable soldering ribbon one moment, crafting persuasive data visualizations the next.

- Excellent communication; you transform complex physics into crisp narratives for non-technical stakeholders.

Impact & Growth

Think bigger than incremental efficiency gains each percentage point you unlock removes megatons of CO₂ over a panel’s lifetime. You will steer early-stage ideas into bankable technologies, earn authorship on high-impact papers, and build a patent portfolio that positions you as a thought leader in solar R&D.
