Solar Project Designer Engineer – Utility-Scale Systems

Key Responsibilities
- Translate site assessments into 30/60/90 % drawing sets using AutoCAD Civil 3D, PVSyst, and Bluebeam Revu.
- Lead value-engineering workshops that trim CAPEX while protecting energy yield.
- Coordinate civil, structural, and electrical disciplines—bridging data gaps and aligning BIM models.
- Serve as primary technical liaison for clients, Authorities Having Jurisdiction, and third-party reviewers—answer RFIs within 24 hours.
- Approve vendor shop drawings and track design deviations against contract scope.
- Maintain design schedule in MS Project; flag risks, propose corrective actions, and secure sign-offs.
- Author stamped design memoranda, basis-of-design reports, and permit packages.
- Mentor junior drafters; standardize templates, layer states, and naming conventions.
Must-Have Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Architectural Engineering.
- 5+ years designing 1 MWp–500 MWp ground-mount or canopy PV systems.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, PVSyst, and NEC Article 690 calculations.
- Proven record coordinating cross-functional teams through construction start.
- Solid grasp of single-axis tracker, fixed-tilt, and bifacial module design nuances.
- Ability to read contracts and convert obligations into actionable deliverables.
- Strong written and verbal communication—client-facing, concise, persuasive.
Preferred Skills
- PE license or ability to obtain within 12 months.
- Experience with Procore, Aconex, or similar CDE platforms.
- Familiarity with energy-storage integration, medium-voltage collection, and SCADA architecture.
- Working knowledge of ASCE 7-16 wind/seismic criteria and AISC steel design.
- Spanish language proficiency for Latin-American supplier engagement.
