Our team is composed of dedicated and innovative professionals who are passionate about developing high-performing, sustainable energy infrastructure. We foster a collaborative environment where expertise is valued, and professional growth is encouraged.
Your Impact & Responsibilities
- You will take full ownership of the electrical engineering design for a portfolio of complex solar energy projects.
- Develop and finalize comprehensive AC/DC system designs for both ground-mount and rooftop PV installations, meticulously optimizing for performance and cost-effectiveness.
- Conduct critical power system studies, including arc flash hazard analysis in strict accordance with NFPA 70E standards—ensuring the highest level of safety for all personnel.
- Perform detailed short circuit and coordination studies to specify appropriate protective devices and guarantee system stability and reliability under fault conditions.
- Execute precise voltage drop calculations for medium and low voltage systems to maintain power quality and meet utility interconnection requirements.
- Create and manage the production of detailed electrical documentation, including one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, panel schedules, and equipment specifications that serve as the blueprint for construction.
- Engineer robust grounding and bonding systems for large-scale solar arrays and associated equipment, ensuring compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and other relevant standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including civil and structural engineers, project managers, and procurement specialists, to ensure a cohesive and integrated project design.
- You will serve as the subject matter expert for all electrical design aspects, providing technical guidance and review for junior engineers and designers.
- Analyze and select major electrical equipment such as inverters, transformers, and switchgear, preparing technical specifications and supporting the procurement process.
Core Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or a closely related engineering discipline from an accredited university.
- A minimum of 5 years of professional experience focused specifically on the electrical design of solar PV systems, preferably within an EPC, consulting, or developer environment.
- Demonstrable mastery of the National Electrical Code (NEC), particularly as it applies to solar photovoltaic systems, energy storage, and interconnection.
- Proven hands-on experience using industry-standard power systems analysis software—specifically ETAP and/or SKM PowerTools for arc flash, short circuit, and coordination studies.
- Proficiency in creating detailed electrical drawings and schematics using AutoCAD Electrical or a similar CAD platform.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to perform complex calculations related to electrical engineering (e.g., conductor sizing, equipment ratings, power losses).
Preferred Expertise & Tools
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly desirable.
- Experience with utility-scale solar projects (10 MW and larger) and a deep understanding of utility interconnection standards and processes.
- Familiarity with PV performance modeling software, such as PVSyst, to inform and validate design choices.
- Advanced knowledge of power systems protection schemes, including relay settings and coordination for medium-voltage systems.
- Experience with energy storage systems (BESS) integration is a significant plus.
- Exceptional communication skills—you can clearly articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
