About the Role:
We’re hiring a Solar CAD/3D Modeler to create precision designs for utility-scale, commercial, and residential PV systems. You’ll transform engineering concepts into construction-ready drawings while optimizing for efficiency and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop detailed solar array layouts (rooftop, ground-mount, carports) using AutoCAD, PVCase, or Revit.
- Generate 3D site models (terrain, shading, equipment) in SketchUp, Civil 3D, or Helioscope.
- Produce permitting packages (plan sets, elevations, wiring diagrams) compliant with NEC, AHJ, and IEC standards.
- Collaborate with engineers to resolve design clashes or space constraints.
- Improve workflows with automation tools (Dynamo, Python scripts).
Qualifications:
- 4+ years in solar CAD modeling (PV system design or construction).
Expertise in:
- CAD Tools: AutoCAD, PVCase, SolidWorks (for racking).
- 3D Modeling: SketchUp, Revit, or equivalent.
- Solar-Specific Software: Aurora, Helioscope, or PVsyst (basic knowledge).
- Understanding of PV system components (modules, inverters, racking).
- Familiarity with construction documentation (e.g., SLDs, BOMs).
Preferred Skills:
- NABCEP PV Design Certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Experience with BIM workflows (e.g., Navisworks clash detection).
- Knowledge of GIS tools (ArcGIS, QGIS) for site analysis.
