Site Civil Engineer – Grading, Drainage & Land Development

Remotely
Full-time

You are a Site Civil Engineer who thrives on translating topography into functional, ADA-compliant spaces. Our multidisciplinary studio tackles university campuses, hospitals, and mixed-use facilities across the U.S. Using AutoCAD Civil 3D, StormCAD, HydroCAD, and Revit, you will shape grading plans, drainage networks, and utility corridors that survive peer review and secure permits—sometimes from a remote workspace.

Responsibilities

- Produce full Site Plans—including grading, erosion control, pavement, and utility sheets—for institutional and commercial campuses.

- Model stormwater systems with StormCAD/HydroCAD to meet federal, state, and local regulations.

- Author SWPPP reports and integrate best-management practices into drawings.

- Calculate earthwork volumes, cut-fill balances, and pavement thicknesses for cost-optimized solutions.

- Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, and landscape architects to maintain design intent and ADA accessibility.

- Compile permit packages; respond to agency comments until approvals are issued.

- Lead virtual design reviews; mentor junior drafters in Civil 3D workflows.

- Track project schedules and proactively flag scope changes.

Must-Have Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and an active EIT or PE license (any U.S. state).

- 4+ years’ experience in site design, land development, or horizontal construction.

- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D corridors, surfaces, pipe networks, and label styles.

- Hands-on knowledge of StormCAD or HydroCAD for hydrologic modeling.

- Familiarity with ADA standards, green-infrastructure guidelines, and local zoning codes.

- Clear written and verbal communication allowing you to craft technical narratives and present to review boards.

Preferred Skills

- Experience with Bluebeam for digital mark-ups and sheet-set management.

- Revit coordination for underground utilities.

- LEED or Envision project exposure.

- Working knowledge of permitting portals in multiple jurisdictions.

Why This Role Matters

Your calculations prevent floods, your layouts avoid costly utility relocations, and your collaboration keeps architects’ visions buildable. You will join a knowledge-sharing team that values mentorship, continuous learning, and flexible work options—remote, hybrid, or office-based—so long as deadlines and design quality are met. Expect challenging brownfield redevelopments, green-field campuses, and the satisfaction of seeing your grading lines turn into walkable plazas.

Career Growth

New hires enter a structured roadmap:

- Months 1-3 – Master our QA/QC checklists and digital standards.

- Months 4-12 – Lead small sites, interface with municipal reviewers.

- Year 2+ – Manage multi-phase campus projects, guide proposal scoping, and influence BIM-for-Infrastructure strategy.
