Sensor Systems Engineer – Automotive & IoT Sensing
You will steer the full sensor life-cycle: physics-based selection, signal conditioning circuitry, algorithmic calibration, and fusion. Your solutions will ship in millions of vehicles and connected products.
Responsibilities
- Analyze application constraints, then select optimal MEMS, image, pressure, magnetic, or optical sensors.
- Model sensor behaviour in MATLAB/Simulink… refine with Python data analytics.
- Design low-noise analog and mixed-signal conditioning circuits, validate them on oscilloscopes and DAQ benches.
- Develop C++ libraries for real-time data acquisition and embedded processing.
- Create Kalman-filter-based fusion algorithms that blend IMU, GPS, and vision data, driving <1 cm positional drift.
- Author calibration procedures; automate them in LabVIEW to cut line-side time by 30 %.
- Build environmental and vibration test fixtures—characterize performance across temperature, humidity, and shock profiles.
- Debug field issues swiftly; perform root-cause analysis down to component physics.
- Document design artifacts clearly so cross-disciplinary teams—mechanical, firmware, cloud—move in lock-step.
- Mentor junior engineers, instilling best practices in signal integrity and statistical validation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or higher in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or similar discipline.
- 5+ years designing electronic sensing systems for automotive, robotics, consumer electronics, or industrial automation.
- Proven depth in sensor physics, analog front-end design, and digital signal processing.
- Fluency in MATLAB, Python pandas/numpy, and C++17 (embedded & PC).
- Hands-on with oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, DAQ hardware, environmental chambers.
- Experience implementing Kalman filters, complementary filters, or machine-learning-based fusion.
- Familiarity with ISO 26262 or equivalent functional-safety frameworks is a plus.
- You thrive in ambiguous R&D settings, communicate crisply, and favor data-driven decisions.
