- Conduct thorough pipe stress analysis using CAESAR II and AutoPIPE to evaluate thermal expansion, pressure containment, and structural integrity of complex piping networks.
- Create precise P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) and detailed isometric drawings that meet industry specifications for fabrication and installation.
- Select optimal piping materials, valves, supports, and components based on process requirements, pressure ratings, and environmental factors.
- Ensure all designs comply with current industry standards including ASME B31.3, B31.1, and other applicable international codes with meticulous attention to detail.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to integrate piping systems seamlessly with structural, electrical, and instrumentation components.
- Review vendor documentation for equipment and components to verify compatibility with system design specifications and project requirements.
- Perform hydraulic calculations to determine appropriate pipe sizing, pressure drop, and flow characteristics across various system configurations.
- Participate in HAZOP studies and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential safety concerns in piping design and implementation.
- Develop comprehensive material requisitions and technical specifications for procurement processes that align with project budgets and timelines.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field; Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in piping engineering for industrial applications, with demonstrated expertise in pipe stress analysis and system design.
- Proficiency in industry-standard software including CAESAR II (2021 or newer), AutoPIPE, CADWorx, AutoCAD Plant 3D, and Navisworks for effective system modeling and analysis.
- Comprehensive understanding of fluid mechanics, material properties, and engineering principles as they relate to industrial piping systems under various operating conditions.
