Senior Machine Design Engineer (Industrial Automation)
We are committed to developing cutting-edge solutions and support our team with the autonomy to excel. For qualified candidates based in the United States, this role can be performed remotely or in a hybrid model.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end mechanical design of custom automated systems and special purpose machinery, from concept to final drawings.
- Create comprehensive 3D models and complete drawing packages—including assembly, detail drawings, and BOMs—using SolidWorks or Inventor.
- Perform critical component selection for mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, such as motors, actuators, bearings, and sensors.
- Validate design robustness and performance through rigorous engineering analysis, such as Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for stress and kinematic studies.
- Champion Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles throughout the entire design lifecycle.
- Ensure all designs strictly adhere to relevant industry safety standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO) and reliability benchmarks.
- Collaborate closely with electrical and controls engineering teams to guarantee seamless system integration and functionality.
- Guide and execute complex projects involving the retrofitting and upgrading of existing industrial machinery to boost performance and capability.
Qualifications and Expertise
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related technical discipline.
- A minimum of 7 years of professional experience focused on machine design, specifically for industrial automation or special purpose equipment.
- Expert-level proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks is highly preferred; Inventor experience is also valued).
- Demonstrated mastery of creating detailed manufacturing drawing packages with a strong application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- In-depth knowledge of power transmission systems, component selection, mechanism design, and pneumatics/hydraulics integration.
- Proven experience with FEA simulation software for stress, deflection, and vibration analysis is highly advantageous.
- You possess exceptional problem-solving skills and a meticulous approach to design... you see challenges as opportunities for innovation.
