Senior Facilities HVAC Engineer

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive preventative maintenance programs for complex HVAC systems in critical environments.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose system failures in real-time, performing thorough root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
- Manage operation and maintenance of diverse HVAC assets including chillers, boilers, cooling towers, and air handling units.
- Oversee annual O&M budgets and negotiate service contracts with vendors to ensure cost-effective operations.
- Plan and coordinate capital renewal and replacement projects, developing detailed specifications and reviewing contractor proposals.
- Monitor building automation systems (BAS) to optimize comfort conditions while minimizing energy consumption.
- Generate performance reports using CMMS platforms and analytics tools to track key metrics and identify improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure HVAC systems support facility uptime requirements.
- Conduct regular system audits to verify compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and environmental standards.
- Implement energy efficiency initiatives that reduce operational costs while maintaining or improving system performance.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Engineering, or related field. Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience managing HVAC systems in commercial, healthcare, or industrial environments.
- Demonstrated expertise with building automation systems, CMMS software (such as Maximo), and SCADA systems.
- Proficiency in analyzing system data using Power BI, Excel, or similar analytical tools.
- Strong understanding of reliability-centered maintenance principles and practices.
- Experience developing and managing operational budgets and service contracts.
- Excellent troubleshooting abilities with a systematic approach to problem-solving.
- Effective communication skills for interfacing with facility stakeholders at all levels.
- Certification in energy management or building commissioning (CEM, CBCP, or similar) is advantageous.
- Knowledge of relevant ASHRAE standards and building codes governing HVAC system design and operation.
