Robotics Systems Engineer

Remotely
Full-time

We are a forward-thinking leader in advanced engineering solutions, dedicated to solving some of the most complex challenges in modern industry. Our team thrives on innovation and collaboration, developing cutting-edge technologies that redefine what's possible in automation and robotics. We foster a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning, empowering our engineers to push the boundaries of system design and integration from concept to completion.

Key Responsibilities

- Architect and define the end-to-end system architecture for sophisticated, multi-disciplinary robotic systems using MBSE principles.

- Lead the elicitation, analysis, and management of system requirements, ensuring full traceability and clarity with tools like DOORS or JAMA Connect.

- Develop and maintain comprehensive Interface Control Documents (ICDs) to govern the critical interactions between hardware, software, and electronic subsystems.

- Conduct pivotal trade studies and analyses to evaluate design alternatives, expertly balancing performance, cost, and risk for optimal system solutions.

- Formulate and execute robust Verification and Validation (V&V) plans, defining test strategies to ensure systems meet all functional and performance specifications.

- Proactively identify and mitigate system-level risks by leading Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and other formal risk assessment activities.

- Oversee the seamless integration of complex subsystems, troubleshooting cross-disciplinary issues that arise throughout the development lifecycle.

- Champion the use of SysML/UML for system modeling, creating detailed diagrams and simulations in platforms such as Cameo Systems Modeler or Rhapsody.

Essential Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field. A Master's degree is highly advantageous.

- A minimum of 7 years of demonstrated experience as a Systems Engineer, specifically within the robotics, automation, or aerospace/defense domains.

- Profound expertise in the systems engineering lifecycle (e.g., V-Model) from initial concept through to production and final deployment.

- Hands-on proficiency with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies and tools (SysML/UML), with significant experience in Cameo, Rhapsody, or a similar environment.

- Proven ability in requirements management and decomposition using dedicated software such as IBM DOORS, JAMA Connect, or an equivalent platform.

- Strong analytical skills, with extensive experience performing trade studies and using modeling tools like MATLAB/Simulink for system analysis and simulation.

- Excellent communication skills, capable of articulating complex system concepts to diverse, cross-functional engineering teams and stakeholders.

Desired Skills

- Direct involvement in the creation and management of Interface Control Documents (ICDs) for complex electro-mechanical systems.

- Familiarity with project and documentation management tools, particularly Jira and Confluence, for tracking engineering tasks and progress.

- Knowledge of industry standards relevant to safety-critical systems (e.g., ISO 26262 for automotive, DO-178C/DO-254 for aerospace).

- A genuine passion for robotics and a drive to solve intricate engineering puzzles... you see the big picture and understand how all the intricate pieces must fit together perfectly.
