Key Responsibilities

- Spearhead the end-to-end engineering design of behind-the-meter (BTM) distributed generation systems, including C&I solar arrays, Combined Heat and Power (CHP) units, and advanced fuel cell installations.

- Conduct intricate analyses of complex utility tariffs and multifaceted rate structures to uncover significant cost-saving opportunities for clients.

- Architect and optimize DER systems specifically for demand charge reduction and enhanced economic returns, ensuring financial viability and performance.

- Lead comprehensive interconnection studies and expertly navigate the utility application process, ensuring strict adherence to standards like IEEE 1547 and local grid codes.

- Develop robust financial models using platforms such as Energy Toolbase and Excel to compellingly articulate project value, ROI, and long-term customer savings.

- Engineer the seamless integration of fleet-scale Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure with on-site generation and battery energy storage systems (BESS).

- Produce detailed engineering drawing sets, including single-line diagrams, site layouts, and construction documents, utilizing AutoCAD with precision.

- Collaborate closely with cross-functional project development and construction teams to maintain design integrity and technical excellence from conception through commissioning.


Essential Qualifications

- A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline is required. A Master's degree is a plus.

- A minimum of 5 years of direct, professional experience in the design of C&I solar, energy storage, or other distributed generation systems.

- Proven expertise in analyzing complex commercial and industrial utility tariffs across various North American service territories.

- Deep, practical knowledge of national grid interconnection standards—particularly IEEE 1547—and a strong understanding of the evolving regulatory landscape.

- Advanced proficiency with a suite of industry-standard design and modeling software; direct experience with Homer Pro, Helioscope, PVSyst, and DER-CAM is highly desirable.

- Exceptional analytical and financial modeling capabilities, with demonstrated success in building sophisticated models for energy projects.

- Strong command of AutoCAD for creating precise and comprehensive electrical schematics and site plans.
