Project Design Engineer

Remotely
Full-time

You orchestrate technical delivery from first sketch to hand-over, aligning scope, budget, and schedule. Your strategic oversight—rooted in robust CAD & PLM workflows—anticipates risk and keeps stakeholders aligned… even when priorities shift overnight.

Responsibilities

- Translate client visions into documented project charters, feasibility studies, and preliminary layouts.

- Develop detailed 2D/3D models, BOMs, and change-controlled drawings using leading CAD suites.

- Build and maintain integrated schedules (MS Project, Primavera P6), tracking earned value against baseline.

- Coordinate architects, mechanical, electrical, civil, and structural contributors—resolving clashes before they reach the field.

- Serve as primary technical liaison, steering design reviews, submittals, and RFI responses.

- Forecast resource needs, negotiate allocations, and recalibrate when market shocks occur.

- Identify hazards early; craft mitigation plans to safeguard safety, budget, and timeline.

- Present progress narratives and cost reports to executive and client leadership—concise, data-driven, actionable.

- Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement, codifying lessons learned for future rollouts.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline.

- 5+ years managing cross-disciplinary design projects inside industrial or commercial construction.

- Fluency with at least one major CAD platform (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Revit, or equivalent) and associated PLM workflows.

- Demonstrated command of MS Project or Primavera P6 for critical-path scheduling.

- Proven budgeting prowess—CAPEX/OPEX forecasting, variance analysis, earned-value tracking.

- Strong grasp of codes and standards (IBC, ASME, NEC, ISO 9001).

- Exceptional written and verbal communication tailored for non-technical executives and field crews alike.

Preferred Skills

- ERP integration experience tying design data to procurement and inventory modules.

- Exposure to LEED, solar or other renewable energy projects.

- PE license or ability to obtain within 18 months.

- Familiarity with agile project management and digital twin methodologies.
