Product Development Engineer

Remotely
Full-time

Key Responsibilities

- You will pilot the entire product development lifecycle—from an abstract concept and initial sketch to final production and successful market launch.

- You will conduct comprehensive market research and user analysis to define precise product requirements and functional specifications.

- You will spearhead brainstorming and ideation sessions, translating innovative concepts into detailed, manufacturable mechanical designs.

- You will design, model, and prototype new products utilizing advanced 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, CREO, or Fusion 360.

- You will manage rigorous testing, validation, and verification (V&V) protocols to ensure product performance, safety, and unwavering reliability.

- You will collaborate intimately with cross-functional teams (including manufacturing, marketing, and quality assurance) to ensure seamless product integration and alignment.

- You will meticulously apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles to optimize for cost, scalability, and production efficiency.

- You will oversee complex project timelines, manage budgets with fiscal responsibility, and communicate progress effectively to all internal and external stakeholders.

Core Qualifications

- A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related technical field is required for this role.

- You possess a minimum of 7 years of professional, hands-on experience in a product development, R&D, or mechanical design engineering capacity.

- You have demonstrated expert-level proficiency with at least one major 3D CAD software package (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, Fusion 360, CATIA).

- You bring proven experience taking multiple products through the complete development cycle, from the initial ideation phase to a successful and celebrated market launch.

- You have a strong, practical understanding of various manufacturing processes—such as injection molding, CNC machining, die casting, and sheet metal fabrication.

- You exhibit excellent project management and organizational skills, with a documented ability to manage multiple complex projects concurrently without sacrificing quality.

Preferred Skills & Expertise

- A Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline is highly regarded.

- Hands-on experience with a wide array of rapid prototyping technologies, including 3D printing (FDM, SLA, SLS) and subtractive methods like CNC machining.

- Familiarity with simulation and analysis tools (e.g., FEA for stress analysis, CFD for fluid dynamics) for comprehensive design validation and optimization.

- You are adept at creating and managing a detailed Bill of Materials (BOM) and performing tolerance stack-up analysis to guarantee proper fit and function.

- We value experience working within highly regulated industries… particularly Medical Devices (ISO 13485), Automotive (IATF 16949), or Aerospace (AS9100).

- You have exceptional cross-functional communication skills and a proven ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences with clarity and confidence.

- A keen business acumen and a strategic understanding of how engineering decisions directly impact the company's bottom line.
