Product Development Engineer – Mechanical R&D

As a Product Development Engineer you will use advanced mechanical engineering, user-centered design, and CAD expertise to drive concepts from sketch to sustained production. Responsibilities
- Conduct market and user research to crystallize functional and business requirements.
- Generate divergent concepts through sketching, storyboarding, and 3D CAD modeling.
- Build and iterate prototypes using 3D printing, CNC, and soft-tooling methods.
- Execute design for manufacturability and assembly (DFM/DFA) reviews with suppliers.
- Plan and oversee verification, validation, and regulatory testing (ISO, IEC, UL, FDA as applicable).
- Collaborate daily with electrical, firmware, industrial design, and sourcing teams.
- Create engineering documentation—BOMs, tolerance analyses, test reports, ECOs.
- Guide products through pilot, ramp, and lifecycle cost-reduction phases.
- Present data-driven design updates to executives and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- 4+ years delivering products from concept through launch in consumer goods, medical devices, electronics, or industrial equipment.
- Mastery of SolidWorks plus proficiency in CREO or Fusion 360.
- Hands-on prototyping experience: FDM/SLA 3D printing, machining, sheet-metal, injection molding.
- Demonstrated skill in tolerance stack-ups, GD&T, FEA, and thermal analysis.
- Familiarity with project management platforms and agile methodologies.
- Clear, concise communication—written, verbal, and visual—across functions.
- Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with IoT hardware integration or embedded systems packaging.
- Knowledge of sustainability analysis and recycled material selection.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or similar continuous-improvement certification.
- Patents or published papers in product innovation.
