Product Design Engineer

Key Responsibilities
- Spearhead ideation and concept generation sessions, translating abstract user needs and market opportunities into compelling and manufacturable product visions.
- Manage the end-to-end new product development (NPD) process—from initial sketch and 3D CAD modeling to rapid prototyping, design validation, and final manufacturing hand-off.
- Develop and iterate on physical prototypes using advanced methods like FDM/SLA 3D printing and CNC machining to validate design, ergonomics, and core functionality.
- Implement Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles throughout the design process to rigorously optimize product cost, scalability, and long-term reliability.
- Create aesthetically pleasing and highly ergonomic designs, developing a strong visual brand language that delivers an exceptional user experience (UX).
- Collaborate closely with an international network of suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure design intent, quality standards, and cost targets are met during production ramps.
- Integrate critical insights from user testing sessions and market feedback loops to strategically refine and perfect product designs before their official market launch.
- Generate and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including detailed 3D models, 2D drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and product specifications.
Required Qualifications & Skills

- Technical Proficiencies:
- Expert-level proficiency in 3D CAD software, particularly SolidWorks for complex mechanical design and Rhino for advanced surface modeling.
- Advanced skills in creating photorealistic renderings using Keyshot (or equivalent software like V-Ray) to produce compelling product visuals for marketing and internal review.
- A comprehensive understanding of material properties, modern manufacturing processes (e.g., injection molding, die casting, additive manufacturing), and their associated design constraints.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) for 2D asset creation and Figma for seamless collaboration with UI/UX teams on connected devices.
- Familiarity with project management tools such as Jira or Asana for tracking development milestones.
- Professional Competencies:
- A compelling portfolio is essential, showcasing a strong foundation in industrial design principles, sketching abilities, and a proven track record of bringing consumer products to market.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience in product design or product development, ideally within the consumer electronics, medical device, or IoT sectors.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a deep sense of user empathy to guide all design decisions, from form factor to material selection.
- Strong business acumen, including practical experience in product cost analysis and direct communication with vendors and suppliers.
- Excellent cross-functional leadership and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to articulate complex design concepts to non-technical stakeholders and company leadership.
