Power Electronics Engineer
About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Power Electronics Engineer to design, develop, and optimize high-efficiency power converters, inverters, and motor drives for applications in electric vehicles (EVs), renewable energy systems (solar/wind), and industrial automation. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with wide-bandgap semiconductors (SiC/GaN), thermal management, and advanced control techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and simulate DC-DC converters, AC-DC inverters, and motor drives using tools like LTspice, PSIM, MATLAB/Simulink, or PLECS.
- Develop high-power (>10kW) and high-voltage (up to 1kV+) systems for:
EV applications: Traction inverters, onboard chargers, battery management systems (BMS).
Renewables: Solar inverters, wind turbine converters, grid-tied energy storage.
Industrial: Motor drives, UPS systems, welding equipment.
- Select and validate SiC/GaN power devices for improved efficiency and thermal performance.
- Optimize thermal design (cooling systems, heatsinks) and ensure EMI/EMC compliance (IEC/EN standards).
- Prototype, test, and troubleshoot PCB assemblies (gate drivers, snubber circuits, high-current layouts).
- Collaborate with firmware engineers to implement digital control algorithms (DSP/FPGA-based).
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., ISO 26262 for EVs, IEC 62109 for solar).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s/Master’s in Electrical Engineering (Power Electronics specialization preferred).
- 3+ years of experience in power electronics design (industry or research).
Proficiency in:
- Simulation tools: LTspice, ANSYS Q3D, Saber.
- PCB design: Altium Designer, Cadence (for high-power layouts).
- Lab equipment: Oscilloscopes, dynamometers, thermal analyzers.
Strong understanding of:
- Digital control techniques (PID, SVM, FOC for motor drives).
- Wide-bandgap semiconductors (SiC/GaN) and their applications.
Familiarity with EV charging standards (CCS, CHAdeMO) or renewable grid integration.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with automotive functional safety (ISO 26262) or industrial standards (IEC 61508).
- Knowledge of digital twin or HIL (Hardware-in-Loop) testing.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working toward it.
