PLC Engineer – Industrial Automation & Controls (Remote-Friendly)

Remotely
Full-time

You are a seasoned PLC Engineer who thrives on industrial automation challenges. Using Rockwell Studio 5000, Siemens TIA Portal, Omron CX-One or Beckhoff TwinCAT, you will program, test, and launch smart factories—ensuring every conveyor, robot, and drive responds flawlessly. If ladder logic, structured text, and process control excite you, read on.

Responsibilities

- Design and program PLC code (ladder logic, structured text, function block) for manufacturing, logistics, and water / wastewater systems.

- Integrate PLCs with HMIs, SCADA dashboards, servo drives, VFDs, vision systems, and collaborative robots.

- Migrate legacy code to modern platforms; execute version control, validation, and documented releases.

- Conduct onsite or remote startups—commission equipment, tune motion loops, and verify I/O integrity.

- Diagnose complex faults under time pressure; implement root-cause fixes that prevent recurrence.

- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and process engineers to optimise throughput, safety, and energy use.

- Produce clear schematics, IO lists, and user manuals for operators and maintenance teams.

- Mentor junior controls specialists, sharing best practices and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, or Control Engineering—or equivalent practical expertise.

- 4 + years hands-on PLC programming with Rockwell or Siemens; exposure to Omron or Beckhoff is a plus.

- Demonstrated proficiency in HMI design (FactoryTalk View, WinCC, Ignition, or similar).

- Solid grasp of industrial Ethernet (EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Modbus TCP) and safety networks (CIP Safety, Profisafe).

- Motion control know-how: servo tuning, coordinated axis moves, and camming.

- Familiarity with NFPA 79, UL 508A, and IEC 61131-3 standards.

- Capacity to read electrical schematics, P&IDs, and mechanical drawings.

- Excellent problem-solving mindset—calm under pressure, decisive in the field.

- Strong written and verbal communication; you translate technical detail into plain language for non-engineers.
