Key Responsibilities
- Lead the conceptual and detailed design of innovative Wave Energy Converters (WECs) and tidal turbine systems.
- Perform sophisticated hydrodynamic modeling and simulation using industry-standard software like WAMIT, OrcaFlex, and ANSYS Aqwa.
- Engineer robust mooring and anchoring systems designed to withstand harsh marine environments and extreme loading conditions.
- Conduct comprehensive site and resource characterization, utilizing GIS and advanced wave/tidal modeling techniques to assess project viability.
- Spearhead the design and integration of efficient Power Take-Off (PTO) systems, ensuring optimal energy conversion.
- Utilize advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tools—such as Star-CCM+ or OpenFOAM—to analyze fluid-structure interactions and optimize device performance.
- Select and specify advanced materials, focusing on corrosion resistance and long-term durability in saltwater environments.
- Plan, coordinate, and analyze data from critical sea trials and prototype deployments to validate performance models.
Core Qualifications
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Ocean Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a closely related discipline.
- A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in marine energy, offshore engineering, or a similar field.
- Demonstrated proficiency with hydrodynamic and marine simulation software (e.g., OrcaFlex, WAMIT, ANSYS Aqwa).
- Hands-on experience with CFD analysis for marine applications is highly desirable.
- Strong command of MATLAB for data analysis, modeling, and control system development.
- Deep theoretical and practical knowledge of hydrodynamics, structural engineering, and naval architecture principles.
- Familiarity with materials science, particularly regarding corrosion in marine environments.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to tackle complex engineering challenges.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and presenting technical findings.
