Mechanical Systems Engineer
Key Responsibilities
- Craft system architecture baselines and maintain traceability in Cameo Systems Modeler and DOORS.
- Generate, update, and decompose requirements; link them to verification evidence.
- Produce Interface Control Documents and negotiate mechanical-electrical-software boundaries.
- Build and execute integration plans that sync CAD, controls, and firmware teams.
- Lead MBSE reviews, risk burn-down meetings, and design-for-manufacture sessions.
- Develop validation & verification plans—hardware-in-the-loop, environmental, and functional.
- Monitor system metrics in Jira dashboards; trigger data-driven course corrections.
- Mentor junior engineers on SysML notation, V-Model discipline, and configuration control.
- Present trade studies to leadership—mass budgets, thermal margins, fault-tolerance tactics.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
- 7+ years applying Systems Engineering to complex machinery, robotics, vehicles, or defense platforms.
- Deep proficiency with SysML, MBSE tools (Cameo, Rhapsody), and requirements suites (DOORS, Jama).
- Working knowledge of finite-element analysis, kinematic modeling, and mechatronic actuators.
- Demonstrated success driving cross-functional integration under AS9100 or ISO 26262 frameworks.
- Strong risk-management mindset—FMEA, fault-tree, Monte Carlo.
- Clear, persuasive communicator; able to brief executives and coach peers.
- Eligible to work with ITAR-controlled data; U.S. Citizenship or lawful permanent residency required.
Why You Will Thrive Here
- You design entire machines, not isolated parts—see the product fly, drive, or automate.
- The culture prizes data-backed arguments, rapid iteration, and intellectual humility.
- Remote collaboration infrastructure lets you contribute from any U.S. time zone.
- Continuous learning budget for conferences, SysML certifications, and advanced CAD analytics.
