Mechanical Design Engineer

Remotely
Full-time

You are a Mechanical Design Engineer who thrives on 3D modeling, fast iterations, and data-grounded stress analysis. Using SolidWorks, CATIA, or Siemens NX, you will transform conceptual sketches into manufacturable realities while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across time zones.

Key Responsibilities

- Build detailed 3D models and manufacturing drawings that satisfy GD&T standards.

- Run FEA simulations in ANSYS or Abaqus, convert findings into actionable design tweaks.

- Select materials and finishes that balance strength, weight, cost, and sustainability.

- Optimize for DFM/DFA; slash assembly time through clever part integration.

- Guide rapid prototypes—CNC, additive, and sheet-metal alike—and validate against specs.

- Maintain the digital thread: update BOMs, PDM vaults, and PLM workflows.

- Present design reviews to stakeholders, defend engineering decisions with data.

- Liaise with electrical, firmware, and manufacturing teams to eliminate late-stage surprises.

Mandatory Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.

- 5+ years of hands-on CAD experience (SolidWorks, CATIA, Siemens NX, or Creo).

- Demonstrated GD&T fluency; interpret and create ASME Y14.5-compliant drawings.

- Proven FEA track record—linear, nonlinear, and thermal analyses.

- Familiarity with Teamcenter, Windchill, or equivalent PLM suites.

- Clear written and spoken English; persuasive communicator in cross-functional settings.

- Sharp problem-solving instincts; you enjoy dissecting complex assemblies.

Preferred Extras

- Exposure to lightweight composites and additive manufacturing.

- Experience in automotive, aerospace, or medical device regulations (ISO 13485, AS9100).

- Scripting knowledge (MATLAB, Python) for automated optimization loops.

- Patent drafting or prior IP contribution.
