Land Development Civil Engineer – Subdivision Design

Remotely
Full-time

Land Development Civil Engineer, Subdivision Design, and Site Civil expertise—these keywords describe exactly what you do every day. If you thrive on turning raw land into vibrant, code-compliant communities, this role lets you stamp your vision on projects that shape skylines. Work remotely within the United States or in a flexible hybrid studio while collaborating with surveyors, planners, and architects to deliver full-service civil plans from concept through construction.

Responsibilities

- Translate feasibility studies into detailed site layouts, grading, and utility plans that pass municipal review the first time.

- Design stormwater systems using HydroCAD, HEC-RAS, or equivalent software—optimize detention, retention, and LID features.

- Prepare entitlement packages, zoning exhibits, and variance requests; attend virtual hearings when necessary.

- Coordinate horizontal and vertical control with survey teams and adjust models based on field data.

- Generate precise cost estimates, schedules, and bid documents that keep owners financially informed.

- Review shop drawings, RFIs, and as-builts during construction; resolve clashes before they escalate.

- Mentor junior designers, instill Civil 3D standards, and champion QA/QC procedures.

- Track regulatory changes in stormwater, ADA, and roadway criteria—proactively update design templates.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and active PE license (or ability to obtain within 12 months).

- 6 + years of progressive land development experience in the United States.

- Mastery of AutoCAD Civil 3D corridors, surfaces, and pipe networks.

- Proficiency with ArcGIS for spatial analyses and utility coordination.

- Hands-on familiarity with Bluebeam for cloud-based markups and plan sets.

- Demonstrated success securing permits from county and city agencies.

- Strong written and spoken communication—craft clear engineering reports and present to nontechnical stakeholders.

Preferred Skills

- LEED, Envision, or ENV SP credential.

- Expertise in renewable energy site design (solar arrays, battery storage pads).

- Knowledge of traffic impact studies and roadway geometrics.

- BIM 360 or ProjectWise collaboration experience.

Why You’ll Thrive

– Impact: Your calculations determine where families live, where products ship, and how runoff reaches rivers.

– Autonomy: Lead projects cradle-to-closeout, backed by specialized drafters and planners.

– Growth: Build a portfolio that spans suburban communities, infill redevelopments, and industrial campuses.
