Jig & Fixture Engineer (Tooling)
You will conceptualize and design the critical tooling and workholding solutions that enable precision and efficiency in high-stakes industries (such as aerospace and automotive). Your work as a specialized Tooling Engineer will directly impact production quality, repeatability, and throughput. This position offers significant remote flexibility for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and engineer custom jigs, fixtures, and workholding devices for CNC machining, welding, and assembly.
- Create detailed 3D models and fabrication drawings using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA).
- Ensure designs achieve accuracy, precision, and repeatability to maximize production efficiency.
- Integrate ergonomic and safety principles into all tooling designs.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and design teams to solve production challenges and advise on manufacturability.
- Conduct stress and deformation analysis (FEA) to validate tooling strength and durability.
- Lead design reviews, present concepts, and incorporate cross-functional feedback.
- Troubleshoot and optimize existing fixtures to improve performance and adapt to new requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field, equivalent experience considered.
- Minimum 5 years of direct experience in jig, fixture, and custom tooling design.
- Expert proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA).
- Proficient application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Strong portfolio of completed projects required; must be prepared to discuss specific design contributions.
