Industrial Design Engineer

Remotely
Full-time

You will transform blue-sky ideas into manufacturable products that delight users. Combining *artistic intuition* with engineering rigor, you’ll own the full industrial-design cycle—from napkin sketch… to Class-A surface… to photorealistic render—ensuring aesthetics, ergonomics, and production viability align.

Key Responsibilities

- Generate rapid concept sketches that communicate form, function, and story.

- Build parametric 3D surface models in Rhino, Alias, or SolidWorks—refining curvature until it meets Class-A standards.

- Orchestrate CMF strategy: select color, texture, coatings, and sustainable materials that fit brand DNA.

- Conduct user-research sessions; translate ergonomic data into interface geometry and tactile feedback.

- Create high-fidelity mock-ups and KeyShot visualizations to secure stakeholder buy-in.

- Partner with mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing teams to reconcile DFM constraints with design intent.

- Iterate through rapid-prototyping loops—SLA, SLS, CNC—until fit, finish, and feel are impeccable.

- Document design specifications, GD&T callouts, and tolerance analyses for smooth hand-off to tooling vendors.

Required Skills

- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or Mechanical Engineering.

- 5+ years crafting consumer products (electronics, housewares, automotive interiors, medical devices, or furniture).

- Mastery of Sketchbook Pro, Adobe Creative Suite, Rhino or Alias, plus SolidWorks surfacing.

- Deep understanding of human-centered design, anthropometrics, and usability testing.

- Proven track record delivering mass-production products under tight timelines.

- Portfolio showcasing sketch ideation, ergonomic validation, and photorealistic renderings.

Preferred Experience

- Familiarity with plastics injection molding, die-cast metals, and sustainable composites.

- Exposure to IoT hardware packaging and PCB constraint negotiation.

- Knowledge of UL, FCC, and FDA design guidelines.

What You’ll Work With

- CAD: Rhino 7, Alias 2024, SolidWorks 2023.

- Visualization: KeyShot 2024, Adobe Substance 3D, After Effects for UI motion mocks.

- Collaboration: Miro, Figma, cloud-based PLM.
