High-Rise Structural Engineer – Tall Building Design Expert
Deliver safe, efficient tall-building structures while mastering wind, seismic, and performance-based design. Apply advanced dynamics, ETABS, SAP2000, and wind-tunnel data to shape skyline-defining towers.
Key Responsibilities
- Design gravity, lateral, and foundation systems for buildings exceeding 40 stories, meeting US codes and international best practice.
- Run nonlinear time-history, push-over, and performance-based simulations in ETABS, SAP2000, and Perform-3D.
- Interpret wind-tunnel studies, translate data into economical core, outrigger, and dampening solutions.
- Optimize reinforced concrete, steel, and composite members for strength, stiffness, creep, and constructability.
- Coordinate closely with architects, MEP, facade, and construction teams to align aesthetics, sustainability, and sequencing.
- Prepare calculation packages, peer-review reports, and client-ready presentations that withstand third-party scrutiny.
- Guide BIM modelers, mentor junior engineers, and oversee QA/QC for design deliverables.
- Support field teams during construction to resolve RFI’s, evaluate change orders, and verify as-built conformity.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Structural or Civil Engineering; PE or SE license (or eligibility) in the United States.
- 7+ years designing high-rise or slender structures, including at least one 40-story project from concept to topping-out.
- Proficiency with ETABS, SAP2000, Perform-3D; familiarity with wind-tunnel data reduction tools and soil-structure interaction modules.
- Deep grasp of ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC 360, and IBC provisions for tall buildings.
- Demonstrated success in performance-based seismic design and advanced dynamic analysis.
- Strong written and verbal skills—you translate complex calculations into clear, client-friendly language.
- Leadership mindset; you drive consensus across multidisciplinary teams and thrive in a deadline-driven environment.
- Authorized to work in the United States; ability to collaborate remotely across time zones.
Why This Role Matters
Your calculations will literally shape skylines, influence urban resilience, and advance sustainable tall-building practice. You’ll join a forward-thinking consulting group that invests heavily in research, peer exchange, and cutting-edge software—yet offers flexible, partially remote work so you can deliver excellence without sacrificing balance.
Future Growth
Expect exposure to mass-timber hybrids, ultra-tall towers above 70 stories, and next-gen damping systems. Technical experts guide your path toward Associate and Principal tracks, while sponsorship for conference papers and committee work keeps your thought-leadership visible.
