Hardware Product Engineer (Electronics)
Your Mission: Product Leadership from Concept to Market
- Manage the entire hardware product lifecycle, from initial concept and specification definition to mass production and end-of-life (EOL) sustaining activities.
- Act as the central nexus between cross-functional teams—including hardware design, software, manufacturing, quality assurance, and marketing—to ensure cohesive product development and a unified vision.
- Author and maintain comprehensive product requirements documents (PRDs) and technical specifications that expertly translate market needs into tangible engineering realities.
- Oversee and drive the hardware validation (DVT/PVT) and characterization processes, ensuring products meet stringent performance, quality, and reliability standards before they reach the customer.
- Champion cost reduction and yield improvement initiatives post-launch by collaborating with supply chain and manufacturing partners to analyze data and implement effective changes.
- Lead root cause failure analysis investigations for field returns and production issues, employing systematic problem-solving (like 8D methodology) to drive corrective actions and continuous improvement.
- Coordinate all necessary compliance and certification efforts (such as FCC, CE, UL, RoHS) to ensure unfettered market access for global products.
- Develop and manage world-class technical documentation, including detailed datasheets, application notes, and manufacturing guides that empower both internal teams and external partners.
Core Qualifications & Experience
- A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical field is required; a Master's degree is a significant plus.
- Demonstrated experience—typically 5+ years—as a Hardware Product Engineer, NPI Engineer, or in a similar role managing complex electronics products through their full lifecycle.
- Profound knowledge of electronics principles, components, and the manufacturing process (SMT, final assembly) for products in industries like semiconductors, consumer electronics, or automotive tech.
- Hands-on experience with data analysis and statistical tools (JMP, Minitab, advanced Excel) to drive decisions related to yield, quality, and performance. What story does the data tell you?
- Proficiency with project management and collaboration software, such as JIRA and Confluence, is essential for tracking progress and facilitating seamless team communication.
- Deep familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems (e.g., Arena PLM, PTC Windchill, Siemens Teamcenter) for meticulously managing product data and engineering change orders (ECOs).
- A foundational understanding of Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools (like Cadence Allegro/OrCAD, Altium Designer) and test methodologies for PCBAs and integrated systems.
The Profile of a Successful Candidate
