- Conduct advanced geotechnical analysis of soil, rock, and groundwater conditions to inform engineering design and construction recommendations.
- Develop and engineer robust designs for shallow and deep foundations (including piles, caissons, and mat foundations) for various structures.
- Perform comprehensive slope stability analysis and design earth-retaining structures, such as mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) walls and shoring systems.
- Plan, scope, and manage subsurface investigation programs, including drilling, soil sampling, and in-situ testing.
- Oversee laboratory testing of soil and rock samples and interpret the results to determine their physical and mechanical properties.
- Prepare detailed geotechnical engineering reports, presenting findings, conclusions, and actionable recommendations for clients and project stakeholders.
- Provide expert consultation on earthwork operations, ground improvement techniques (e.g., soil stabilization, vibro-compaction), and geohazard mitigation.
- Collaborate with structural engineers, civil designers, and project managers to ensure design integration and project success.
Essential Qualifications
- A mandatory Professional Engineer (PE) license in at least one U.S. state, with the ability to obtain licensure in other states through reciprocity.
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or a closely related field from an ABET-accredited university.
- A minimum of five years of progressive experience focused specifically on geotechnical engineering and analysis.
- In-depth, practical knowledge of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering principles.
- Proven experience in conducting and managing geotechnical field investigations and writing comprehensive technical reports.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to handle complex engineering challenges.
Preferred Skills & Proficiencies
- A Master's degree with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated proficiency with industry-standard geotechnical software (e.g., LPILE, GRLWEAP, SLIDE, PLAXIS, gINT, and the GeoStudio suite).
- Experience within diverse sectors such as A/E consulting, environmental services, heavy civil construction, or mining projects.
- Familiarity with pavement design, seismic analysis, and advanced ground improvement design.
