Facade Engineer – Building Envelope & Curtain Wall Design

The practice blends building science, material research, and digital fabrication to create resilient, energy-efficient exteriors. Responsibilities
- Lead concept-to-completion façade system design—curtain walls, windows, cladding.
- Run structural and thermal simulations in THERM, WINDOW, Strand7, RFEM, MEPLA.
- Detail complex interfaces ensuring air-, water-, and vapor-tight assemblies.
- Specify weather-resistant materials balancing aesthetics, durability, and cost.
- Coordinate BIM workflows in Revit and AutoCAD with architects and structural teams.
- Prepare shop drawings and review fabricator submittals for compliance.
- Oversee laboratory and field testing—airtightness, water penetration, impact, and pull-out.
- Investigate building envelope failures; write forensic reports with remedial strategies.
- Mentor junior designers and liaise with contractors during site inspections.
- Collaborate remotely with cross-disciplinary teams across multiple time zones.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Architectural, Civil, or Structural Engineering.
- 5+ years dedicated to façade design or building-envelope consulting.
- Proficiency in THERM, WINDOW, Revit, AutoCAD, and at least one FEA package.
- Command of ASCE 7, AAMA, ASTM, NFRC, and relevant energy codes.
- Proven record delivering projects from schematic design through construction.
- Strong grasp of hygrothermal behavior, moisture migration, and condensation control.
- Fluent technical English—clear reports, persuasive presentations, concise markups.
- Analytical mindset, meticulous detailing, and deadline discipline.
- Eligibility to work in the United States; willingness to travel for site reviews.
- Bonus: Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered status, LEED AP, or CW certification.
