Electrical Engineer – Power Systems & NEC Design Specialist

Remotely
Full-time

You will own the electrical scope—from early load studies to final as-builts—using AutoCAD Electrical, Revit, ETAP, SKM, and MATLAB. Expect tight deadlines, evolving stakeholder goals, and the satisfaction of turning megawatts into measurable business value.

Key Responsibilities

- Craft single-line diagrams, schematics, and wiring schedules that surpass NEC, IEEE, and NFPA 70E standards.

- Perform load flow, short-circuit, coordination, and arc-flash studies in ETAP or SKM; distill results into actionable reports.

- Specify switchgear, transformers, protective relays, VFDs, and control hardware—balancing cost, safety, and maintainability.

- Direct multidisciplinary BIM models in Revit, ensuring clash-free routing with architectural, mechanical, and civil teams.

- Lead client and AHJ reviews; defend design intent, negotiate variances, and secure timely approvals.

- Troubleshoot field issues during commissioning; resolve unexpected harmonics, voltage sags, or PLC misfires—fast.

- Mentor EITs, enforcing document control and QA/QC procedures that keep projects audit-ready.

- Track schedule, scope, and risk using modern project management frameworks; report earned value to leadership.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering; Master’s or power emphasis a plus.

- 4+ years designing low- and medium-voltage power distribution in utilities, manufacturing, or mission-critical sectors.

- Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical, Revit, ETAP or SKM, and MATLAB or PSCAD.

- Demonstrated command of the National Electrical Code and related standards.

- U.S. PE license (or EIT on PE track) required.

- Analytical mindset, concise technical writing, and client-facing communication skills.

- Ability to travel up to 20 % for site walks and energization milestones.
