Electrical Engineer | Power Systems Design & Analysis
We are a forward-thinking organization committed to solving complex challenges through engineering excellence and innovation. Our team is composed of industry experts who are passionate about pushing the boundaries of what's possible. We foster a collaborative and supportive environment where you are empowered to take ownership of your work, develop your skills, and make a tangible impact on significant projects.
Core Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement robust electrical systems for medium and low-voltage applications, ensuring that all designs adhere to rigorous safety, performance, and reliability standards. You will be responsible for the entire design lifecycle, from initial concept and feasibility studies to detailed engineering and construction support.
- Create and maintain comprehensive electrical documentation packages. This includes producing precise one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts utilizing AutoCAD Electrical and Revit MEP. Your drawings will serve as the definitive guide for fabrication, installation, and commissioning teams.
- Conduct comprehensive power system studies and analyses—such as load flow, short-circuit, protective device coordination, and arc flash hazard analysis—using industry-standard software like ETAP or SKM PowerTools. You will interpret the results to provide actionable recommendations for system improvements and enhanced safety.
- Manage the full scope of electrical engineering projects, from initial client consultation and requirements gathering to budget management, scheduling, and final project closeout. You will serve as the primary technical point of contact, ensuring project milestones are met and deliverables exceed expectations.
- Ensure unwavering compliance with all relevant codes and standards, most notably the National Electrical Code (NEC) and the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC). Your role is critical in guaranteeing that all installations are safe, legal, and insurable. You will also stay abreast of amendments and updates to these critical regulations.
- Act as a lead troubleshooter for complex electrical issues in both new and existing systems. You will employ a systematic approach to root cause analysis, developing and implementing effective corrective actions to minimize downtime and prevent recurrence.
- Prepare detailed technical specifications for electrical equipment—including switchgear, transformers, motor control centers (MCCs), and variable frequency drives (VFDs). You will also author comprehensive technical reports, studies, and project documentation for a variety of stakeholders.
- Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering environment. You will work closely with mechanical, civil, structural, and control systems engineers to deliver fully integrated and cohesive project solutions. Your ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical team members is essential.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or a closely related engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited institution.
- A minimum of five years of progressive experience in electrical system design, specifically within the utilities, A/E consulting, heavy industrial, or construction sectors.
- Demonstrated proficiency in creating electrical schematics and system layouts using AutoCAD Electrical and/or Revit MEP.
- In-depth, practical knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC). You must be able to interpret and apply its requirements to real-world design challenges.
- Strong foundational understanding of circuit analysis, power system fundamentals (generation, transmission, distribution), and modern control theory.
Preferred Skills & Competencies
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly desirable.
- Advanced proficiency with power system analysis software such as ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or PSCAD.
- Hands-on experience with MATLAB/Simulink or SPICE for system modeling and simulation.
- Proven project management experience, with a track record of successfully delivering electrical projects on time and within budget.
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities, with a talent for diagnosing and resolving multifaceted technical challenges.
