Electrical Engineer – Instrumentation & Power Systems (Remote-Friendly)
Drive complex power-and-instrumentation projects as an Electrical Engineer skilled in AutoCAD Electrical, LabVIEW, and metrology. Solve network calculations, design robust electrical systems, and calibrate precision devices.
Responsibilities
- Model and draft single-line and three-line diagrams in AutoCAD Electrical for medium- and low-voltage grids.
- Perform load-flow, short-circuit, and arc-flash calculations to ensure grid resilience.
- Design, build, and automate test benches using LabVIEW and National Instruments hardware.
- Develop calibration procedures for power analyzers, transformers, and smart sensors.
- Program data acquisition routines that capture microsecond events and auto-generate compliance reports.
- Validate prototype electronics against IEC, UL, and IEEE safety codes.
- Produce detailed bills of material and wiring schedules for field crews.
- Support manufacturing teams during first-article builds and factory acceptance tests.
- Troubleshoot site installations remotely—interpret oscilloscope traces, relay settings, and SCADA alarms.
- Mentor junior engineers on best practices for grounding, shielding, and EMC mitigation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology.
- 5+ years designing power distribution or instrumentation systems in energy, defense, or industrial automation.
- Proven command of AutoCAD Electrical; able to create intelligent symbols, ladder logic, and panel layouts.
- Hands-on LabVIEW development—state machines, modular VI libraries, and hardware abstraction layers.
- Solid grasp of metrology principles: uncertainty budgets, traceability chains, and statistical sampling.
- Ability to script in Python or MATLAB for data crunching and report automation.
- Familiarity with NEC, NFPA 70E, and IEC 61010 standards.
- Clear written and verbal communication; capable of translating technical jargon into actionable steps.
Preferred
- PE license or progress toward licensure.
- Experience with renewable energy assets (solar inverters, BESS, microgrids).
- Knowledge of MODBUS, CAN, and Ethernet/IP protocols for real-time control.
- Exposure to hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing using PXI or cRIO platforms.
