Key Responsibilities
- Spearhead the end-to-end design of robust industrial automation and control systems for applications in manufacturing, material handling, robotics, and energy sectors.
- Architect and program sophisticated control logic for PLCs—primarily Rockwell (Studio 5000) and Siemens (TIA Portal)—utilizing Ladder Logic, Structured Text, and other IEC 61131-3 languages.
- Develop intuitive, user-centric HMI and SCADA applications (using platforms like Ignition, FactoryTalk View, or WinCC) to provide operators with critical process visualization and control.
- Create, review, and maintain comprehensive electrical schematic packages using AutoCAD Electrical, ensuring all designs for control panels comply with NEC, UL 508A, and customer-specific standards.
- Lead the seamless integration of industrial robots (from manufacturers like FANUC, ABB, KUKA) by developing programming, configuring communication handshakes, and optimizing system performance.
- Perform rigorous analysis to select, size, and specify critical system components, including sensors, actuators, servo motors, VFDs, and industrial networking hardware.
- Manage system commissioning and start-up activities, which includes I/O checkout, device configuration, PID loop tuning, and performance validation to meet design specifications.
- Diagnose and resolve complex electrical and software issues during commissioning and post-launch support, providing both remote and on-site troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and clients to author detailed Functional Design Specifications (FDS) and control narratives that form the blueprint for system execution.
- Design, configure, and troubleshoot industrial communication networks—including Ethernet/IP, Profinet, and Modbus TCP—to ensure reliable and high-speed data exchange across the plant floor.
- Engineer and implement machine safety systems that adhere strictly to current OSHA, ISO 13849, and IEC 62061 standards, performing risk assessments to ensure personnel and equipment safety.
Core Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
- A minimum of five years of professional, hands-on experience in a role such as Controls Engineer, Automation Engineer, or PLC Programmer.
- Demonstrated proficiency in programming PLCs from the ground up, with a strong command of Ladder Logic and the ability to read and troubleshoot existing code.
- Proven ability to design electrical control panels and produce detailed electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- A solid understanding of industrial networking principles, including network topology, IP addressing, and protocol configuration.
Preferred Technical Expertise
- Extensive, project-based experience with Rockwell Automation platforms (Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View ME/SE) or Siemens platforms (TIA Portal, WinCC).
- Practical experience developing modern HMI/SCADA solutions, with specific expertise in Ignition or AVEVA Wonderware being highly advantageous.
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical for creating and managing electrical design projects.
- Direct experience with the programming, setup, and integration of multi-axis industrial robots (FANUC, ABB, etc.).
- Deep knowledge of motion control systems, including the configuration and tuning of servo drives and VFDs for precise positioning and speed control.
- Familiarity with the application of machine safety standards (e.g., ISO 13849, Performance Levels) in a practical manufacturing environment.
- Experience with database integration (SQL) for data logging and reporting from control systems is a plus.
