Concept Design Engineer – CAD Prototyping & Innovation
Join a remote-friendly advanced design group where your expertise as a Concept Design Engineer, CAD specialist, and rapid-prototyping champion sparks next-generation products. You will shape architecture, craft proof-of-concept prototypes, and validate ideas that redefine consumer electronics and mobility solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Transform abstract ideas into tangible 3D models through fast sketching, surface modeling, and assemblies.
- Conduct multidisciplinary feasibility studies—technical, market, and cost—to de-risk bold concepts.
- Lead iterative proof-of-concept builds with 3D printing, CNC machining, and off-the-shelf components.
- Define core product architecture, materials, tolerances, and manufacturing pathways.
- Facilitate cross-functional ideation sessions that merge engineering rigor with user empathy.
- Perform patent landscaping and freedom-to-operate analyses to safeguard intellectual property.
- Present design narratives, exploded views, and photorealistic KeyShot renders to stakeholders.
- Collaborate asynchronously with industrial designers, mechanical, electrical, and firmware engineers in a cloud-based PLM environment.
- Document lessons learned and establish reusable design standards for future programs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or related discipline.
- 5+ years professional experience in concept or advanced product design.
- Mastery of at least one major CAD platform (SolidWorks, NX, Catia, or Fusion 360) and surface modeling.
- Proven track record delivering functional prototypes under compressed timelines.
- Working knowledge of FDM/SLA 3D printing, DfM/DfA, GD&T, and tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Strong communication skills—sketching on paper or tablet, storytelling, and succinct technical writing.
- Ability to synthesize market research, user feedback, and engineering data into actionable insights.
Preferred Extras
- Experience in automotive studio, consumer electronics, or startup R&D setting.
- Familiarity with KeyShot, Blender, Unreal Engine, or VR visualization workflows.
- Exposure to lightweight composites, battery systems, and embedded electronics integration.
- Patent drafting or participation in prior art searches.
- Agile methodology and remote collaboration tools (Jira, Miro, Git-based version control for CAD).
Why This Opportunity
The team operates without geographic boundaries; impact is measured by imagination and execution. Your concepts can leap from whiteboard to market faster than anywhere else—while you enjoy the flexibility of a distributed engineering culture focused on tangible results.
