Component Design Engineer – CAD & FEA Specialist

Remotely
Full-time

You will shape high-precision brackets, enclosures, gears—every detail that turns a concept into a manufacturable reality. Using advanced CAD and finite-element analysis, you will balance weight, cost, and performance while navigating strict tolerance stacks. Remote collaboration options available.

Responsibilities

- Generate parametric 3D models and fully detailed 2D drawings in Creo, NX, or SolidWorks.

- Perform nonlinear and thermal FEA to validate strength, stiffness, and fatigue life.

- Execute tolerance stack-up analysis with 3DCS or comparable tools—report risks, propose fixes.

- Optimize parts for DFM/DFA across casting, injection molding, and additive manufacturing.

- Select alloys, polymers, or composites based on mechanical, thermal, and cost constraints.

- Apply GD&T per ASME Y14.5; mentor peers on best practices.

- Lead value analysis / value engineering (VA/VE) workshops to trim cost without eroding quality.

- Document design decisions, assumptions, and verification results for cross-functional review.

Required Skills

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar).

- 5+ years as a Component Design Engineer designing safety-critical parts.

- Mastery of 3D CAD and PDM systems; rapid configuration control.

- Proven FEA proficiency—static, dynamic, vibration.

- Hands-on knowledge of machining, die-casting, and high-pressure injection molding processes.

- Fluent in tolerance analysis, statistical stack-ups, and measurement systems analysis.

- Strong English communication; you translate technical nuance for non-engineers.

Preferred Plus

- Exposure to electric-vehicle battery enclosures or lightweight aerospace structures.

- Familiarity with Design for Six Sigma, APQP, PPAP documentation.

- Experience automating repetitive CAD tasks with Python or VBA macros.
