Join a pioneering renewable-energy venture as a Cleantech R&D Engineer. In this remote-friendly role, you will fuse first-principles thinking with hands-on experimentation to turn lab discoveries into commercial clean-power solutions.


Responsibilities  

- Execute technology due diligence for investors—evaluate TRL, IP strength, and scale-up risk.  

- Design and run proof-of-concept tests, moving ideas from bench to pilot plant.  

- Build robust process models in Aspen Plus and MATLAB; validate with pilot data.  

- Perform cradle-to-grave life-cycle assessments (LCA) in SimaPro or GaBi to quantify carbon impact.  

- Develop market and technology landscaping reports that guide venture capital strategy.  

- Draft grant proposals that secure R&D funding from federal and private programs.  

- Coordinate cross-disciplinary teams—chemists, materials scientists, software analysts—to accelerate timelines.  

- Present findings to executives in crisp dashboards created with Python, JMP, or Minitab.  

- Maintain a culture of safe lab practice and meticulous data integrity.  


Key Requirements  

- Bachelor’s or higher in Chemical, Mechanical, Materials, or Environmental Engineering.  

- 5+ years in process design or cleantech R&D; pilot-scale experience essential.  

- Demonstrated mastery of Aspen Plus, MATLAB, Python, and CAD software.  

- Hands-on LCA expertise using SimaPro or GaBi.  

- Solid grounding in intellectual property basics—patent claims, FTO, and portfolio mapping.  

- Proven skill in scientific method: hypothesis framing, DOE, statistical analysis.  

- Clear, persuasive communication—written and verbal—tailored to technical and investor audiences.  

- U.S. work authorization.  


Preferred Skills  

- Experience with electrochemical, bio-based, or solar-thermal systems.  

- Familiarity with National Lab or ARPA-E project environments.  

- Grant-writing track record exceeding $1 M in awards.  

- Exposure to quality systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14064) and safety protocols (HAZOP).
