Civil Engineer – Public Infrastructure & Site Design

Remotely
Full-time

You will plan, design, and oversee horizontal and vertical infrastructure that keeps communities moving—roads, utilities, stormwater systems, and civic facilities. Partner with architects, surveyors, environmental scientists, and contractors to deliver resilient, code-compliant solutions on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

- Generate conceptual layouts, detailed drawings, and construction documents for site development and public works projects.

- Model grading surfaces, corridors, and drainage networks in AutoCAD Civil 3D—striving for earthwork balance and hydraulic efficiency.

- Prepare hydrologic and hydraulic analyses in HEC-RAS and EPA-SWMM to size culverts, detention basins, and green infrastructure.

- Write technical memoranda, specifications, and engineer’s estimates that withstand regulatory scrutiny.

- Lead permit acquisition at city, county, state, and federal levels; defend design decisions in hearings and stakeholder meetings.

- Coordinate structural, geotechnical, traffic, and utility disciplines, resolving clashes before they reach the field.

- Track progress in MS Project, adjust critical paths, and issue construction-phase clarifications when site conditions shift.

- Conduct site inspections—verifying compaction, reinforcing placement, and stormwater BMP installation—to uphold QA/QC standards.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering or closely related field.

- 4+ years designing land development or public infrastructure within the United States.

- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, ArcGIS, and Bluebeam for markup collaboration.

- Working knowledge of AASHTO, MUTCD, IBC, and local stormwater manuals.

- Demonstrated success guiding projects through entitlement, bid, and construction.

- Stellar written and verbal communication—capable of translating engineering jargon for non-technical stakeholders.

- Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 12 months.

Preferred Extras

- Experience with renewable energy facilities, rail corridors, or coastal resilience projects.

- Familiarity with LEED Site credits and Envision sustainability rating.

- Spanish proficiency for community outreach.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

You will join a national consultancy known for mentoring talent, embracing advanced BIM-GIS workflows, and supporting hybrid work so you can focus on innovative design rather than commute time. Expect autonomy, exposure to marquee projects, and a clear path to project management.
