CAD Engineer – Expert 2D/3D Modeling & Drafting
Drive precision-engineered products by creating detailed 2D and 3D models with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, and Inventor. Join a forward-thinking firm offering flexible on-site/remote schedules.
Responsibilities
- Transform design concepts into production-ready 2D drawings and 3D models that meet or exceed ASME Y14.5 standards.
- Maintain and expand a centralized CAD library—parts, templates, symbols—to guarantee version integrity.
- Convert legacy files across formats (DWG, STEP, IGES, STL) while safeguarding dimensional accuracy.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing teams to resolve tolerance stack-ups, interferences, material selections, and cost targets.
- Generate structured Bills of Materials and export them to PDM/PLM systems for seamless downstream workflows.
- Conduct peer reviews, redline checks, and clash detections to eliminate errors before release.
- Produce high-impact visualizations and exploded assembly views to aid proposals, tooling, and field service guides.
- Champion data governance—naming conventions, file security, and lifecycle states—so stakeholders always pull the right revision.
Requirements
- 4+ years as a CAD Engineer, Drafter, or Design Technician in manufacturing, construction, or energy sectors.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, Siemens NX, and Inventor; able to pivot between platforms quickly.
- Demonstrated command of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) per latest ASME Y14.5.
- Hands-on experience with PDM/PLM (Windchill, Teamcenter, Vault) and change-management workflows.
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes: CNC machining, sheet-metal fabrication, injection molding, additive manufacturing.
- Fluent in reading mechanical, electrical, and piping schematics; comfortable marking up multidisciplinary drawings.
- Excellent spatial reasoning and visualization skills—you foresee fit issues before they hit the shop floor.
- Effective communicator: you translate engineering jargon into crisp instructions for suppliers and installers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or similar discipline.
- Exposure to Bluebeam Revu for collaborative markup sessions.
- Familiarity with FEA, CFD, or tolerance analysis tools (Ansys, Simulia).
- Portfolio that demonstrates lifecycle ownership—from concept sketches through released drawing packages.
Why This Role
You will join a multidisciplinary design group that shepherds products from whiteboard to warehouse. Expect rapid iteration cycles, open feedback loops, and the autonomy to select the best tools for each task. Work where you perform best—our digital infrastructure supports fully remote contributors and hybrid arrangements (occasional site visits when prototypes hit the floor).
How You’ll Grow
The team sponsors certifications in GDTP, SolidWorks Professional, and lean manufacturing. You will interface with R&D, supply chain, and field service, sharpening both technical depth and cross-functional influence.
