Building Envelope Engineer – Roofing & Waterproofing Expert

Responsibilities
- Create roofing, waterproofing, and air-barrier specifications that meet ICC and ASTM standards.
- Model hygrothermal behavior with THERM and WUFI to confirm energy and moisture targets.
- Conduct on-site infrared and moisture-meter surveys; pinpoint elusive water paths.
- Lead forensic assessments after storms, seismic events, or premature material degradation.
- Develop detailed repair drawings in Revit and AutoCAD, including phased remediation plans.
- Oversee façade performance testing—AAMA 501.2, spray racks, chamber pressurization.
- Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, and alternates; flag compatibility risks.
- Draft clear, defensible reports that support capital-planning, insurance, or litigation needs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Architecture, Civil, Mechanical, or Building Science Engineering.
- 5+ years focused on building-envelope consulting or quality assurance.
- Proficiency with THERM, WUFI, Revit, AutoCAD, and infrared thermography cameras.
- Deep knowledge of roofing membranes, air-barrier assemblies, sealants, and flashing details.
- Field experience interpreting ASTM E1105, E783, and related water-penetration tests.
- Skill translating complex findings into concise technical narratives for non-engineers.
- Ability to travel to project sites up to 25 %, occasionally on short notice.
- U.S. work authorization and a valid driver’s license.
Preferred Skills
- Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA) credential.
- IIBEC RRC, RWC, or REWC certification.
- Familiarity with drone-based façade inspections and photogrammetry.
- Experience supporting expert-witness testimony or insurance claims.
