Architectural Engineer – Integrated MEP & BIM Design

Remotely
Full-time

You are a systems-minded Architectural Engineer ready to fuse architecture with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing expertise. In this role, you orchestrate integrated building design, guide BIM workflows, and ensure every space meets performance targets and the latest IBC requirements—even when you collaborate from a remote desk or a hybrid studio.

About the Role

– Drive holistic building concepts from concept through construction, balancing aesthetics and engineering precision.

– Collaborate with architects, structural partners, and energy modelers to deliver seamless digital twins.

– Serve as the technical steward for MEP scope on mixed-use, civic, healthcare, and commercial projects across the U.S.

Key Responsibilities

– Integrate HVAC, power, lighting, and water systems into Revit-based models while maintaining clash-free Navisworks coordination.

– Produce load calculations, duct and conduit sizing, panel schedules, and riser diagrams.

– Verify compliance with IBC, ASHRAE 90.1, NFPA 70, and local amendments.

– Conduct EnergyPlus simulations to quantify savings, payback, and carbon metrics.

– Develop technical specifications and annotate construction documents for bid and permit sets.

– Lead interdisciplinary design charrettes, resolve field questions, and approve submittals.

– Mentor junior engineers, elevating BIM standards and quality control.

Required Qualifications

– ABET-accredited BS in Architectural Engineering or Mechanical/Electrical Engineering.

– 5+ years designing MEP systems for buildings 50,000 sq ft+.

– Fluent in Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks Manage; proficient with Bluebeam and MS Project.

– Demonstrated energy modeling skills (EnergyPlus or eQuest).

– Solid grasp of structural fundamentals and envelope details.

– Professional Engineer (PE) license—or ability to obtain within 12 months.

– Clear written and verbal communication; you translate jargon into actionable decisions.

Preferred Expertise

– LEED, WELL, or Green Globes accreditation.

– Experience with parametric scripting (Dynamo, Grasshopper) to automate repetitive tasks.

– Familiarity with digital twin platforms and IoT sensor integration.

– Past success on design-build or fast-track delivery models.
