Specialization: Telecom Engineer
— From an engineering point of view, I am essentially a telecom engineer with a specialization in power supplies. Although I do not hold any certificates, I have acquired the necessary knowledge through hands-on experience.
— Sometimes I need to dig into the designer's mind to fix a device. That's how I learn things.
Telecommunication skills:
— Circuit switching: Extensive knowledge base on the architecture of circuit switch, starting from electromechanical switch to digital SPC (Stored Programmed Controlled) switch to all IP soft switch.
— Packet switching: Very good knowledge base on packet switching network starting from X.25 (PSPDN) to TCP/IP (de-facto standard) network LAN, MAN, WAN along with packet switch variant like Frame Relay, MPLS, cell switch (ATM). A router is nothing but a layer 3 packet switch.
— Signaling protocol: In-depth knowledge base on O&M signaling to channel associated MFC tone to common channel SS7 packet-switched signaling network. These signaling protocols are used in circuit switch to build a wide area to a global telephone network.
— Transmission: Extensive knowledgebase on multiplexing of communication channels (analog {FDM} and digital {PCM->PDH, SDH, SONET, ISDN}) to create a baseband for transmission through media like radio (microwave), optical fiber (single lambda, WDM, DWDM), satellite.
— Billing: Actively involved in an SW development project for billing of telex switch along with BUET. It was nothing but the crunching of CDR data produced by the telex switch to make a meaningful format of data understandable by a general user.
— Power Supplies: Extensive knowledge base on telecom and IT power infrastructure including IPS, single conversion and double conversion UPS, low EMI & low THD rectifiers.
— Satellite Communications: In-depth knowledge base on satellite communication systems using FDMA and TDMA. VSAT, thin route DAMA, thick route DAMA are variations in accessing the satellite links.
— Mobile communications: Understands the basics of CDMA, GSM RTT for the access network.
Computer skills:
— I started with DOS 5 as OS and now handling windows 10. I never allowed my PC to crash or show a blue screen. I am an advanced PC user. I did not like windows 8 as it is basically designed for tabs so I stayed with Windows 7. Recently I have upgraded to windows 10. I never went to any person or service provider to fix/repair my PC.
— I am very good at handling the MS office suite. I made many macros using office VBA to automate my day-to-day activity in a telephone exchange and other parts of my career.
— Besides MS office, I am an advanced user of a 3D CAD application named SOLIDWORKS. I can do stress simulation to validate any design performance and flow simulation to validate HVAC and fluid handling equipment performance before actually building the device.
— I am also proficient in handling CorelDraw Suite, Corel paint shop, Wolfram Mathematica, Windows moviemaker, Nero video publishing. Not an expert in these apps but I tend to learn features to integrate across the apps.
— Good at computer networking.

● Monitoring & prevention of illegal VoIP.
● Keeping a close relationship with BTRC.
● Major contribution: Deployment of MNP (Mobile Number Portability) Platform to be used by all the IGW (International Gateway Operators for voice calls.
● Planning & Developing SMS platform: This one remains unfinished at the deployment level because of no GA from Regulator (BTRC).
Chief Technology Officer
09.2014 - 05.2015 |ADN Telecom
3D CAD, SolidWorks, MS Office
● Streamline day-to-day support activity.
● Looking for the scope of system improvement from the viewpoint of reliability.
● Introducing new ideas in uninterrupted power supply system removing traditional UPS.
● Meeting with important customers from time to time.
● Resolve unforeseen technical issues.
● Generating statistics to check overall system health.
● Improving the knowledge base of employees regarding technical aspects.
● Datacenter design project: Design a tier-III data center with all the ancillaries. I was planning the data center with an innovative new power supply system and innovative HVAC. Later, management told me not to use any unconventional ideas in the design and I left the company.
Solution Architect Power / Energy
06.2012 - 09.2014 |LM Ericsson Bangladesh
3D CAD, SolidWorks
● Generating cost-effective and sustainable energy solutions for telecom infrastructure using conventional, alternate and renewable sources. Established the product named ESC (Ericsson Site Controller) in the field. This was a brand-new product from Ericsson.
● Project ESC: As part of the remote site management system, ESC was introduced in Bangladesh as a pilot project in ROBI and AIRTEL network. Experience from this pilot project is used in Papua New Guinea and Sudan for a successful deployment.
● Local resource building project: As a side to the ESC project, building local resources for the deployment and operation of ESC was done in both places.

Divisional Engineer
05.1984 - 09.2006 |Bangladesh Telegraph & Telephone Board
3D CAD, SolidWorks, MS Office
● Responsibilities: Managerial, Planning, Maintenance, Installation were the principal activities.
● The company is Govt. owned and the job was routine but I introduced lots of innovation and twists in doing a routine process, which makes the process fast, error-free and neat.
Examples are:
● Control module project: At that time there was no full control module available and repairing caused a PABX outage for a long time. So, a complete control module was built for electromechanical PABX – 1985.
● Switch repair project: Many switches were piling up for repair for a component that was scarce at that time. So, the whole switch mechanism was analyzed and the Zener diode was found as an alternate component for the original component – 1988.
● Printer head repairing project: At that time, telex machines were piling up for repair for only one missing component, the printer head. So, a project was taken to find a way around and generate a process to repair it locally.
● Siemens telex machine repair project: Repairing SIEMENS machines were expensive due to the usage of proprietary spares. So, the whole machine was analyzed and new alternate spares were used from the local market to cut the cost – 1989.
● Power supply rejuvenation project: All over the country, the exchange power supply was replaced with an incompatible rectifier system. So, an interface was devised to remove this incompatibility – in 1990.
● OKI telex machine repair project: Repairing OKI machines were a difficult and tedious task as per the given instructions. So, the whole process was analyzed and a new process was devised to cut the time and labor – in 1991.
● Telex exchange card repair project: A processor card was not available at the time and the exchange was in high-risk condition. So, a process was created to repair the card. 100 microchips were procured locally to rebuild the processor card for the NEAX switching system – 1993.
● Investigation: Conduct a successful investigation regarding TAR settlement anomaly for overseas call – 1995.
● Automation project: Within a switch O&M process, developed and introduced many automation software, like, subscriber query, billing data query, TTY command-line automation, call detail record generation – 1996.
● Stop telephone extortion project: At that time couple of subscribers came to me with overbilling complaints. Found that it was organized extortion with inside and outside help. Developed software to stop these kinds of extortion – 1996.
● Integration of outside plant data with exchange internal data project: Introduced integrated MIS platform including the outside plant data for a local exchange – 2000.
● Kill VoIP project: Develop a process software to identify illegal VoIP users – 2003.
